Onion rose
Aya and Leon enjoy the love in his apartment in Ryu Obrio. The hero is trying to protect his beloved from dangers, and the girl suspects him of illegal activities. The singer is forced to admit that he is an intelligence officer and is tracking her English relatives Bonke, Friedrich and Gunther, in connection with the smuggling of weapons. The heroine tells everything she knows about criminals.
The singer persuades Aija to ask for a visit to his uncle - he certainly needs to see Gunther, whom the Israeli intelligence does not know in person and has been tracking down for a long time. Leon hopes to find out "about a small inconspicuous bay, about a private respectable yacht, whose ultimate goal will be Beirut port." For Leon, this information is a ransom, "an exchange with the office ... I tell you ... Gunther, and you give me peace and will. That is Ayyu ... ". Leon makes a proposal to the girl, in the role of his betrothed, and will go to London.
Having taken Zheltukhin, they drive a rented car through half of Europe, enjoying the tourist views and each other's company; this is a real love trip. In the Flemish castle of Leon’s acquaintances, the heroes spend an amazing night.
After a concert in London, the heroes visit Frederick, who has a birthday reception. In the house, in addition to his uncle and his wife, there were several guests, a bodyguard Chedric, a servant of Bert and Gunther, who was hidden from everyone in his room. Frederick is sincerely glad to his niece and groom. Leon captivates the owner’s wife Elena, quietly trying out the necessary information from her about the family yacht, on which, he suspects, is smuggling plutonium to the Middle East.
In the owner's bookcase, the hero notices the old family book of the Great Etinger, which Jacob Etinger once sold to old antique dealer Adil. The book disappeared after the murder of an old agent, in it is a danger sign left by an antique dealer. In a festive salad, Leon sees an onion rose that was once prepared by the “terrible Nubian” Vinay, who served with Immanuel. All of these warning signs indicate a certain threat awaiting the heroes in the house of arms dealers.
The maid of service Big Berta brings Zheltukhin to Gunther, who is hiding in the house, and an allergic attack of suffocation occurs. This is a reaction to the canary of a person dealing with plutonium. When Gunther was taken to the hospital, Leon finally sees him for the first time - this is Vinay, who worked under Israeli intelligence for many years.
Love in portofino
Leon is planning an operation to track plutonium smuggling and destroy Gunther. He decides to carry out everything secretly, alone, and then send the result to Israeli intelligence. The hero hides Ayu in the village and prepares for a dangerous business.
After a conversation with Nicole's former mistress and analytical thoughts, Leon identifies the place where Bonke's father and son will transfer the stolen plutonium to a yacht to transport to the Middle East. This is the Italian port town of Portofino, where Bonke and Nicole have villas. Not wanting to part with her lover for a long time, the singer takes her with him, planning a colorful “spy show”. In addition to them, the secret services of Gunther are secretly conducted by the Israeli secret services, who recognize Leon in the makeup of an old woman.
On the day of the operation conceived by the hero to destroy Gunther, Ayyu is overtaken by an attack of long sleep. Leaving the girl at the hotel and writing two letters - for her and intelligence, Leon swims into the bay and, tracking the yacht, drowns the enemy. On surfacing, Gunther’s guards capture him and take him to the Middle East.
Having woken up and reading the letters of her lover, the heroine does not follow the instructions, but begins to independently search for Leon.In a cafe on the coast of Portofino Ayu Nicole sees, discussing with her relative the strange death of the Bonke family: Elena and Friedrich crashed in a car when they went to identify the body of Gunther, who drowned while drunk. This is the official version for the police.
Return
Leon is beaten on a yacht, figuring out why he killed Gunther. According to his version, he takes revenge on the bride, as if he had once been raped by that. Chedric, the bodyguard of the murdered Gunther, joins the tormentors. He tortures the hero, not believing in the legend he invented about the avenger bridegroom.
Nathan Kaldman and Shauli discuss Leon's rescue from captivity. According to intelligence, he is hidden in various places in Syria and Lebanon by bandits of Islamic groups. From their conversation, it turns out that Aya sent a letter to Shauli, which presented the entire criminal scheme for transporting plutonium to the Middle East and the role that the Bonke family played in this. According to Nathan, the Israeli secret services will not rescue Leon from captivity, as he foiled their important operation and is no longer an active agent. Also, men mention that plutonium was in the hands of Arab terrorists, and Aya disappeared.
Nathan calls on the old scout Zara with a request to raise his old ties and to assist in the liberation of Leon. She calls the name of the lawyer Nabil Azari, who has the most incredible acquaintances and often acted as an intermediary in exchanges of prisoners. Ironically, the lawyer is Uncle Leon, the brother of his biological father.
Aya rushes about in Europe in search of Leon, from whom he expects a child. No one can help her. Believing that Leon is alive, she meets with Philip Geshard, an impressive singer, and tells him that Leon is probably a scout, which is incredibly surprising. She leaves for Bangkok and works at a hotel almost until delivery.
In Israel, intelligence officer Meir Kaldman has a tough conversation with his wife Gabriela. She's depressed about Leon's captivity. The husband notices that the special services will not rescue the singer, since he thwarted the most important operation. To this, Gabriela vindictively tells him that their third child, Ryzhik, is Leon’s son, and that his adorable mother, Magda, cheated on her husband while he was in captivity. An enraged Meir nearly kills his wife; his father stops him. From this, Nathan has a heart attack, and he dies in the arms of Magda, whom she forgives a long-standing betrayal.
On the day of Nathan Magda’s funeral, he arrives at the intelligence office and blackmails deputy chief Nahum Shif to force him to tackle the release of Leon. Israeli intelligence agencies are still taking steps to find and ransom Leon. At the same time, lawyer Nabil Azari is receiving offers from three interested parties - Israeli, French and Iranian intelligence - to participate in negotiations to exchange the French singer Etinger for Iranian captive General Mahdawi. The negotiation mechanism starts.
News agencies report the imminent release of the famous singer. After reading this news, Aya goes home to Alma-Ata, expecting that Leon will find her there.
The night before the exchange, the drunk Chedric secretly penetrates Leon’s cell and blinds him, taking revenge for his murdered lover Gunther. In Cyprus, under the auspices of the UN, the singer is exchanged for a captive general. A friend of Leon, Shauli escorts the hero to Israel, there he is met by Abram, a long-time friend of the family. The singer is being treated at the hospital.
Aye has a strange dream that she gave birth to a four-eyed boy. Waking up, she reads the news about the exchange and release of Leon. Overcoming the resistance of her father, she flies to Israel. Shauli accompanies her to the hospital ward. At the meeting, Ayia learns that Leon is blind, and Leon - that he will become a father.
Epilogue
In the abbey of St. Mary, next to the Israeli village of Abu Ghosh near Jerusalem, an annual music festival takes place. The oratorio “The Prodigal Son” is sung by the famous countertenor Leon Etinger, together with his eight-year-old son Gavrilo. The boy has viola, like his father in childhood. He looks a bit like Leon, but without his father's fury. Rather, it resembles the Great Etinger - Herzl. There is a full house in the hall. Present here, Magda reflects on the vicissitudes of fate and nature, which gave one son of Leon hearing and voice and deprived the talent of another. She regrets that Meir will never allow the children to be introduced. The woman admires Aya, recognizing that the singer is happy with her.
Ayia meets Shauli at the airport, arriving to listen to the oratorio. On the way to the abbey, the heroine enthusiastically talks about her work as a documentary filmmaker. Old bachelor Shauli admires Aya and envies Leon. He compares the heroine with the biblical Ruth, a symbol of righteousness and devotion to his family.
On stage "a duet of two high voices soars intertwined ... Two figures, Leon and a boy, so close to each other, as if grown together, in an indissoluble connection of two voices lead the party of one rebellious, but reconciled soul ...". Aye, she seems to hear the singing of her husband and son. The heroine recalls that when Gavrik was little, she and her husband heard each other, holding on to the heels of the baby, and called him the "vehicle of happiness."
