The well-known song of the Spleen rock band “Romance” was written in 2004 on a ship during the weekly pitching. This was told in the studio "Our Radio" by Alexander Vasiliev, the founder of the popular group. The work was included in the album "Reverse Chronicle of Events", which every connoisseur of the genre knows by heart.
Alexander Vasiliev sings about a terrible period in the history of Russia, about the complex life of ordinary people in the Great Patriotic War. The lyrical hero takes care of time. Although there are many days on the calendar, but any of them can forever be the last. The character is desperately trying to grab hold of life, love, but to no avail. This conflict is described by a metaphor, where a glass of wine is a carefree and happy time before the war. Unfortunately, everything was destroyed, crashed in an instant, in the midst of life, when there were many opportunities and goals ahead. A terrible period has come, for which no one was ever ready. The hero hurries his beloved woman, because if she doesn’t say what she wanted to say for a long time, there will be no other chance. People are separated forever, but these undoubtedly important words will go with them to the end.
Towards the middle of the song, the tension increases: "And a cartridge is waiting in the barrel." The hero physically senses his expectation, it is worse than the shot itself. After the painful trials, it’s “dark at the end of the line”, as if life is a book, almost finished, but there is no light and hope in the finale. At the end of the tunnel, only death waited nervously. In the handset no longer hear your native and beloved voice. Only for the sake of it would at least exist in harsh conditions. Now only "beeps" spoke, which killed the hope of meeting a single ray of light, with a dear person. The character was desperately waiting for death, because in another world there is no war and murder. There is only a loved one and paradise in a hut. They "will be happy now and forever."
